How reunification works

The Adopterluv Microchip Registry makes getting reunited with your lost pet an easy process.

  • Pet is registered

Your microchip is instantly registered when you bring your pet home.

  • Pet gets lost

If your pet goes missing, log in to Adopterluv to mark your pet as lost, verify your contact information is up to date, and make sure you’ve opted in to alerts.

  • Owner is alerted

When your pet is found, you’ll receive calls, texts, and emails. So will your associated contacts!

  • Pet returns home

Once you are reunited with your pet, you can stop Found Alerts right from your Adopterluv account.

The importance of microchipping

Microchipping is a safe, easy way to identify your pet, and it helps improve the chance that you’ll get your animal back if it becomes lost or stolen.

  • 1 in 3 pets will get lost during their lifetime

A collar tag alone isn’t enough, as it can get damaged or fall off. When an animal is found and taken to a shelter or veterinary clinic, one of the first things staff do is scan it for a microchip.

  • Microchips provide permanent identification that is tamper-proof

This enables shelter or veterinary clinic staff to quickly find the animal’s owner and return the lost pet.

  • Microchips don’t track your pet’s location

They store a unique ID that links to your contact information in a pet registry, helping reunite you if your pet is lost and found.
