The importance of microchipping

Microchipping is a safe, easy way to identify your pet, and it helps to improve the chance that you'll get your animal back if it becomes lost or stolen.

  • 1 in 3 pets will get lost during their lifetime

A collar tag is not enough as it can get damaged or fall off. When an animal is found and taken to a shelter or veterinary clinic, one of the first things the staff does is scan the animal for a microchip.

  • Microchips provide permanent identification that is tamper-proof

This enables shelter or veterinary clinic staff to quickly find the animal’s owner and return the lost pet.

  • Pets with microchips are up to 20 times more likely to make it home

According to research on microchipped pets, the return-to-owner rate is 20 times higher for cats and 2.5 times higher for dogs compared to non-microchipped pets.
